A survey on clustering protocols in wireless sensor networks (WSN)

What is wireless sensor networks?

Wireless sensor networks are the collection of tiny motes. These are deployed in random fashion. The nodes are battery operated hence, there is a trade-off among communication, energy utilization and processing.

Challenges:
  • Energy constrained
  • Reliability
  • Scalability
  • Throughput

The most of energy of a node is depleted in communication phase. Hence we require energy efficient routing protocols so that the life time of sensor networks is increased.
